St. Patrick's Day Write Around the Room!

Our poem of the week: I'm a Little Leprechaun!
Can your child point out the sight words?

Book Shares!
Abigail, Erin, and Blake shared this week! They each brought in a book from home to share with the class.
We loved learning about what the books were about and their favorite part of the book.
Ask your child at home about the new books we learned about!

Guided Reading:
Be sure to ask your child all about his/her reading group time. Each student works with a teacher in a small group, and learns different reading strategies. Check out some pictures below of students pointing to each word as they read!

Mystery Reader!
Thank you Mrs. Kadilak for being our Mystery Reader on Friday!
Be sure to ask your child which Dr. Seuss book Mrs. Kadilak read!

Cafeteria Update:
The cafeteria now provides snack (i.e. Popsicles) as an option for students to purchase along with their meal. Although snacks are very appealing for Kindergarten students, we suggest to have a conversation at home with your child before allowing him/her to purchase a snack. Here are the reasons:
1. Snacks cost additional money
2. Students only have about 25 minutes to eat lunch. This includes waiting in line to purchase their meal along with eating.
While we try to ensure students eat their meal before their snack, sometimes the students will spend the majority of the lunch time eating the snack instead of their meal, and will therefore throw away uneaten food.
Please have a conversation at home with your child and come up with a plan. Whether you decide your child may purchase a snack everyday, once per week, or once per month; having a plan together would be helpful and would make lunch more enjoyable.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you!

Community Helpers:
Thank you to those who are interested in coming in to speak about your job and how it affects our community! If you are interested in speaking about your career and how it affects the community, please let me know as soon as possible.
Be on the lookout for more information soon!

Parent-Conferences:
I am looking forward to speaking with you about your child's academic, social and emotional progress so far in Kindergarten. Be on the lookout for a confirmation of our scheduled day and time to speak. If you are unable to attend the scheduled day/time for a conference, please let me know and I would be happy to schedule an alternate time.
Thank you!

Library Notice:
Just a friendly reminder we have library on Tuesday. Please help your child bring back his/her borrowed library book so he/she can borrow a new one on Tuesday!
